El 26 de Abril, 2012 los creadores de Debtocracy, un documental visto por millones de personas en todo el mundo, presentaron su nueva producción, llamada CATASTROIKA, documental que descubre los resultados de la actual venta de los recursos públicos de Grecia, exigidos a fin de afrontar la inmensa deuda soberana del país. Recordando los ejemplos de Londres, París, Berlín, Moscú y Roma, CATASTROIKA predice lo que ocurrirá, si el modelo impuesto en estas áreas es importado a un país bajo la tutela financiera internacional.
Slavoj Zizek, Naomi Klein, Luis Sepulveda, Ken Loach y Greg Palast hablan sobre las medidas de austeridad, el gobierno griego así como del ataque contra la Democracia en Europa, tras la propagación general de la crisis financiera. Académicos y especialistas como Dani Rodrik, Alex Callinicos, Ben Fine, Costas Douzinas, Dean Baker y Aditya Chakrabortty presentan aspectos desconocidos de los programas de privatización en Grecia y en el extranjero.
CATASTROIKA está coproducida por el público, que contribuyó financiera e ideológicamente en su creación. El documental esta disponible de forma gratuita bajo licencia Creative Commons.
Los responsables de la dirección y el texto del documental han sido los periodistas Aris Chatzistefanou y Katerina Kitidi, y Leonidas Vatikiotis asumió su edición científica.
